The verbs 'see' and 'think'

1. Type out IN A COMPLETE SENTENCE the correct form of the verb in parentheses. Stay in the present tense only.

She (see) the cat in the corner.

2. RULE: When the verb 'see' means TO USE YOUR EYES, we use the simple present tense to talk about NOW. This is an exception to the normal rule.

I (see) that you have on a new coat.

3. RULE: When the verb 'see' means VISIT or DATE, we use the 'ing' verb when we are talking about NOW.

Bob (see) his dentist about his tooth right now.

4. Nancy (see) John this evening for a date.

5. HINT: Remember that ALL verbs use the simple present tense when they mean FREQUENTLY. All the exceptions we have been studying ONLY are exceptions when we are talking about NOW.

13. RULE: When the verb 'think' means BELIEVE, we use the simple present tense when we are talking about NOW. This is an exception to the rule.

Harvey (think) that the moon is blue.

14. Jerry (think) that math is very hard.

15. HINT: Of course, like ALL verbs, when we use 'think' with a FREQUENCY word, we ALWAYS use the simple present tense.

John never (think) about the future.
