Student Services:
APPOINTMENT AND WALK-IN WRITING ADVISING:
Writing Advisors meet students for 25 or 50 minute appointments or 15-25 minute walk-in conferences. Advisors give feedback on all kinds of academic writing such as research papers, essays, abstracts, summaries and book reviews as well as business writing such as letters, reports, proposals and resumes.
While Writing Advisors do NOT edit or proofread papers, they do make suggestions on how students can make changes to their own writing projects in the areas of organization, grammar, vocabulary and clear communication.
Papers that are longer than two pages must be given to the office assistant one day in advance so the Writing Advisor has time to read the paper and prepare for the session.
SEMESTER WRITING ADVISING:
Semester Writing Advisors provide the same kind of help as appointment and walk-in advisors but meet with students regularly from one to three times a week for 50-minute sessions. This service works best for students who want to improve their overall writing skills as well as get feedback on specific papers.
ENGLISH TUTORING:
English Tutors meet regularly with students who are enrolled in English courses or for self-improvement from one to three times a week for 50-minute sessions. Tutors focus on course work, reading, writing, grammar and/or vocabulary improvement.
