Application Process for
Tutors & Writing Advisors

Tutors
- Tutors meet regularly with students enrolled in courses
or for self-improvement.
- Tutors assess students' strengths and weaknesses; write
tutoring logs/reports; participate in training and do other work as
assigned.
Writing Advisors
- Writing Advisors meet with students on a regular basis, by
appointment, or by walk-in.
- Advisors meet with students to give feedback on academic
and business writing; assess compositions; write brief reports; participate
in training and do other work as assigned.
Prerequisites for Employment
Student and non-student applicants must:
- have a 'B' or better in courses they want to tutor;
- have a GPA of 2.5 or better;
- be eligible to work in the United States;
- possess sign communication skills.
- English Tutor and Writing Advisor applicants must have
experience writing essays, research papers and must have completed at least
one college level English course.
How To Apply
- Applicants for English tutoring and writing
advising positions must write an essay explaining why you want to become an English
Tutor, Writing Advisor, or both. This should be approximately one double-spaced
page.
Salary
- Salaries range between $7.25 and $12.10
an hour depending on experience.
