Semester Goals

English tutoring often requires a great deal of goal setting, structure, planning, and materials from the tutor.

Part of the tutor's job is to help the student improve his/her class work and understanding of the text book and assignments.  The Tutor and student goals for these areas will roughly follow the course curriculum and syllabus.  However, tutors should also plan to supplement the student's class work with educational materials and exercises from the internet or from the library of resource books available at TIP.

To help tutors identify possible resource materials, refer to English Tutoring Topics and Resources. To help tutors set goals, see the Semester Goals Worksheet.
