TIP/CRLA Training Program

The Tutorial & Instructional Programs (TIP) training program has been certified by the College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA). The CRLA sets the international standards for tutor training programs. You can work toward three levels of certification: Level 1/Regular, Level 2/Advanced, and Level 3/Master. Linda Williams and Sandi Atuonah are responsible for Level 1 training; Ellen Beck and Rhonda Madden are responsible for Level 2 and Cindy Officer is responsible for Level 3.
We are offering CRLA Training as three separate Professional Studies and Training (PST) courses:
PST courses are offered through Gallaudet's Graduate School and Professional Programs (GSPP). Each course is one PST credit. These credits do not apply to your GPA or towards your degree. These credits, may, however, be accepted as transfer credits at another college or university. These credits are also recognized by many employers. The GSPP application for the CRLA Level 1/Regular course should be submitted along with your TIP Employment application. This application includes completion of: Tutors and Writing Advisors do not have to pay the $140 credit fee, $15 application fee, or the $25 late application fee. Upon completion of these courses, tutors receive a pass/fail grade and can request an official or unofficial transcript. Certification is awarded to students who have successfully completed each level. These courses includes several modes of training:

Tutors and Advisors can be certified for up to three levels in one semester providing they meet all requirements, have accumulated 75 hours tutoring students, and received positive evaluations from their students and Supervisor. |
