| What is Supplemental Instruction (SI)? |
|
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a series of weekly review sessions
for students taking historically difficult courses.
SI is provided for students who want to improve their understanding of course material and improve their grades in selected courses. |
| When do SI sessions start? |
| On the first day of class students in selected courses will fill out a survey to let the SI leader know their class schedule. The SI leader will set up at least one SI session a week during a time that works for a majority of the students. Each SI session will be different because of new material to cover. |
| What's an SI leader? |
| SI Leaders are usually students themselves and are prepared to share with other students what they have learned over the years about how to study. They know the course content and are eager to guide students through it. They will attend each class, take notes, and read materials the same as any student in the class. After class, they will setup study sessions. They will not lecture during study sessions. Their job is to help students think about the lectures and readings, then put it all into perspective during SI sessions so students can learn more efficiently. |
